AME Syllabus in India Designed and Structured by DGCA

The AME syllabus in India is designed and structured by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. AME is one of the unique international license based courses through which students can achieve their dream career in the private and government aviation sectors overseas. The student desiring to take admission must be 12th with PCM or have a 3 years engineering diploma from a recognized university/board. To get admission to one of the top AME institutes with up to 100% scholarship, students can apply for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance Exam (AME CEE)at www.amecee.in.

The AME syllabus may differ depending on the license so let us first discuss the category of the licenses in detail, which are such as:

B1: This license is related to certifying the airworthy condition of the mechanical parts of the aircraft. This is further classified based on the category of the engine in it:

·       B1.1: B1.1 license holders are permitted to certify the fit-to-fly condition of a jet-powered aircraft. It includes the maintenance, repair, testing, and solving the issues with these aeroplanes.

·       B1.2: The B1.2 licenses are qualified to certify the airworthiness of a piston-engined aircraft. This license holder performs the duties of maintenance, replacement, repair, and troubleshooting of the difficulties of the aeroplane with piston engine.

·       B1.3: B1.3 licensed person carries the task to maintain, repair, test, certify, and solve the difficulties of the helicopter with jet engine. They are also allowed to issue a release certificate for a helicopter with a jet engine after properly checking it.

·       B1.4: This license holder performs the duties on their shoulder for the maintenance, repair, examination, and resolution of the issues with the helicopter with piston engine. After ensuring the fit to fly condition of the helicopter with a piston engine, they are authorized to issue a release certificate.

B2: This branch of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering commonly known as “Avionics”. This licensed person carries the duty of certifying the electrical system, radar system, navigation system, etc. of the aircraft. This license holder can perform their responsibilities on an aeroplane and helicopter.
